“We’re all crazy, I believe, just in different ways.”

The Silent Patient revolves around Alicia Berenson, an esteemed painter, married to a notable fashion photographer, Gabriel Berenson. They are happily married for seven years. One day Gabriel arrives home late from his shoot. Alicia shoots him in the face five times and never speaks again. Just paints a wired painting that gets the attention of people as they start visiting her gallery. Alicia, the silent patient, is taken under by The Grove, a secure unit in London.

Theo Faber, a psychotherapist, is obsessed with Alicia's case and is longing to take over. He finally gets the chance when he is selected by grove. Theo is desperate to uncover the mystery behind Alicia's silence and thinks the reason is dug deep in her past. He believes that he could maker Alicia speak. Theo begins the search that may consume him. Will, he can make her talk? Will Alicia reveal the truth of the murder?

Alice Michaelides has written one of the best thriller book. The story is gripping, and the mystery kept me hooked to the pages. The small chapters with cliffhanger endings make the story lot interesting. The language of the book is lucid. The mystery of Alicia and Theo's obsessions takes you on a ride where the twist blows up your mind into pieces. The writing style is what needs appreciation that holds the mystery intact. The suspense of the book makes it impossible to keep down.

It is the best thriller/mystery book I have read. The book was hyped and lived up to the expectation and excitement. I can't summarize my experience without giving away too many details. But this was a great read. If you love to read thriller books, then this is a perfect choice. The end will blow your brain. Surely a five-star read.

My Rating: 5/5
