The Secret of the Nagas is the second book of the trilogy by Amish Tripathi, which beings where the prequel left off.

Starting over from where Sati was attacked by the Naga that turns into a dramatic action sequence. Shiva continues his journey, but this time vengeance takes control over him. The sinister Naga after, killing his best friend now stalks his wife. This rage will take him to the doorstep of the serpent people. The story picks up as Shiva and Sati along with their companion's sails to Kashi with one motto in mind, find the evil Naga. The path to confront the Naga leads Shiva to a city named Branga, which is dying due to a plague. There Shiva’s path crosses with a bandit Parshuram who believes in Neelkanth’s myth and presents a new prospect of Nagas. The Vasudev, Shiva’s loyal guides had turned their back and now seeks aid on the dark side. A prodigious secret about Sati leads her to question the perfect city, Meluha and its emperor Daksha. A crown prince is murdered. But unknown to Shiva, a master puppeteer is playing a grand game. Shiva's child is born and is saved twice by the people who he describes as evil. An epic revelation by the end leads Shiva to reconsider his decisions.

The second book is an abundance of secrets that leads us further in the story. The first book ended on a surprising note, but the second ends on a shocking one. A modern touch to mythological fiction is what this about. This book introduces us to various characters, which are part of Shiva's journey. The description of Kashi and its importance shows the research work of the author.

This book my favourite from the trilogy and hooked me to its many secrets, which made it difficult to keep down. The story unfolding the relation of Parvateshwar and Anandmayi was what I enjoyed the most. The journey in search of evil continues, but Shiva receives a shock by the end of the book, and so do we. This book is full of twists and turns, which lead to a path of revelation.

Overall, the book would not disappoint the readers in any way. If you have joined the journey of Shiva, then this is a mandatory read. But if you have not read the Shiva Trilogy, then you are missing one of your great read.

My Rating:- 5/5
