"For you, a thousand times over."

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is an aboslute materspiece. Set in Afghanistan in 1975, when the country was on the verge of destruction, traces the story of two boys, Amir and Hassan, and their unlikely friendship. Amir, a son of a wealthy man, grew up with their servant's son Hassan. Over time they became best of friends. Kabul, a famous city in Afghanistan is known for its kite-flying tournament. Both the boys are experts in this, and they take part in the 1975 tournament. Amir takes on the mission to win the competition to impress 'Baba' and Hassan's loyal friends agree to be his kite runner. But an incident turns the life of the two boys upside down. Later soviet union invades Afagasthain, and Amir with his father flees to America. Years later, Amir returns to the new Afghanistan under Taliban's rule to find one thing he needs from the new world: 'Redemption' Will he get it?

The Kite Runner is an aching masterpiece by Hosseini, the book broke my heart with its beautiful story. The tale of Amir and Hassan is painful yet in a way teaches many things. Their pure bond makes us happy, and the ends make us sob in pain. The way the story progresses and gives insights into their lives, and it comes full circle by the end, gives me some satisfaction. Reading this book was a great experience, but it was difficult to read, some parts like the violence in Afghanistan. There is some part where I hated Amir, and at a point, I thought Hassan was too innocent, and their friendship was so pure. But overall, this book did the job of making an impact on my life. I am going to carry the things this book gave me and taught me forever.

I would definitely recommend this book as everyone should read it once in their life. But yes disclaimer "Be ready to shed tears."
