Name a hyped book you didn't like?

"Life is much more successfully looked at from a single window."

The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald tells the tragic tale of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan through the eyes of Nick Carraway, a graduate of Yale University. Nick recently moved to New York to pursue a career in bonds. There he gets fascinated by his neighbor Gatsby who throws lavish parties and has an uplifting lifestyle. Nick travels to east egg to meet his cousin Daisy and her brutally rich husband Tom, whom he knows from college. During that time, his encounter with Jordan Baker, a professional golfer, steals his heart. At Daisy's house, Nick unfolds many dark secrets about how Tom has a mistress, and this is bothering Daisy.

One day Nick gets an invite to one of Gatsby's parties, and by going there, his life turns upside down when he befriends Gatsby and learns the truth about him throwing such huge parties. Gatsby wants to reconcile with his long-lost love Daisy, with whom he got separated during a war, but she is married now. However, Gatsby finds Nick as his wingman to win Daisy back. Will Gatsby be able to win Daisy back? What turn of events this one meeting will cause?

The book traces back to the 20th century set in America, the time it was called the Jazz Age. Its main focus is on the era of fuming luxury and extravagant parties. Considering America's greatest novel, this was a nightmare for me. I love reading classics and traveling back in time to hear about the beauty of that era but this lack in everything. The language of the book is rich that shows the author's literature knowledge, but the story is slow-paced. The characters were written vaguely, and there was no development by the end.

The story of Gatsby and Daisy was alluring, and by the end, how it turned into a tragedy was somewhat worth reading. The first half of the book was descriptive, it gets better in the middle, but the ending was not satisfactory. Daisy was such a complicated and horrible character, along with Tom. Gatsby is not worth the hype at least for me, your experience could be different. This book didn't work out for me.
