Print Length:- 575 Pages

Genre:- Mythological Fiction

The concluding book of the Shiva Trilogy, The Oath of the Vayuputras by Amish Tripathi starts with a shocking layout by the last book.

The story begins when an old friend of Shiva returns, who planned his demise. The evil is finally revealed, but Shiva will consider every aspect before ragging war. The pieces of the puzzle are put in places. Shiva gathers his army and form allies for the coming war. Many who trust lord Neeklanth stand against Meluha, but some choose Dharma over their living god. The planning and plotting beings while Bhrigu declares Shiva a fraud who was not chosen by the Vayuputra tribe. They are the people left behind my lord Rudra to assist and train the next Neelkanth in destroying evil. Has Shiva imagines that things are getting out of control he reaches out to his last resort, the Vayuputras. The visit to Pariha leads Shiva to discover a massive truth about his past and Manobhu. Having the support of the Vayuputras, Shiva marches his army to the city of Meluha, but an unexpected tragedy shatters his life. Every battle demands a sacrifice Shiva loses his life, his smile, his love.

The last book is a bit steady as compared to its prequels. The starting chapters are knotty and lengthen, which could bore the readers, but later it catches the pace. The title doesn't seem to have justice since the book excludes the focus on the Vayuputras. This part is left unexplained, and the story is rushed by the end. The end twist was unnecessary, which broke my heart into pieces. The enthusiasm is lost due to the narration, in the beginning, but the story still is worthy to read. The only part I liked the most was the fight sequence carried out by both Ganesh and Kartik at Magadha also the battle of Sati with the people of Aten tribes was a pack full of emotions. This part was the hardest to read.

Overall, Amish delivered a decent conclusion to the trilogy by keeping the mythological touch alive. Even though the book would suck out our hope in the beginning, but it's quite satisfying by the end.

My Rating:- 4.1/5
