The Immortals of Meluha is the first book from the Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi. The book states the journey of Shiva, a common man whose karma turns him into the great Mahadev.

The story set in the mountains of Kailash where Shiva a common man, the leader of his tribes Guna is threatened by their rivalry Pakratis which led him to migrate to the country named Meluha, describes has the heaven, where people follow the rules pinned by the lord Ram and are named as Suryavanshi. Meluha, the city with modern technology and self-righteous people who bowed to Lord Ram and follow the rules left by him are threatened by the Chandravanshi who wish to conquer the Somars along with the Saraswati river. The Chandravanshi has crossed all the limits by allying with the Nagas, people born deformed, and cast out from the city. The Suryavanshi waits for their saviour, the Neelkanth, who will destroy evil and save them. Shiva is destined to be the Neelkanth, but he doesn't believe in any prophecies or thinks he is the right man to be called god. When Shiva enters the city he fell in love with Sati, the daughter of the emperor Daksha. While breaking the law of vikarma Shiva marriages Sati. The growing attack from the enemies forces him to declare war on the Chandravanshi. Guided by his friends to look towards truth, Shiva pledges to save Meluha. Shiva leads the army to destroy evil but a stunting revelation sinks Shiva on the journey, but his destination is far away.

The book is a perfect blend of fiction with historic facts. The characters which were part of Shiva Purana are depicted in the book. The friendship of Shiva and Nandai and how he became the trusted aide of Shiva was the best part of the book. The description of cities like Kashmir, Meluha, Karachapa, Swadweepa, and Ayodhya is so spectacular that readers are transported to the ancient and beautiful cities of Bharat. The war scene would give you goosebumps. Each character is well defined, which enables the reader to connect with them. The work of Amish is well appreciated and the reason is this epic book. This debut book creates a world of fantasy including topics like corruption, caste system, unnecessary laws that enter readers' hearts. Also, the importance of considering both sides before the war to avoid destruction was reckoned.

This book will hook you on the journey of Shiva in destroying evil. The ups and downs in his life, the support from his loved ones, the battle scars, the undivine faith from the people of Meluha will firmly make this book a stupendous read.
