Have a book made you change your beliefs?
A book has the power to make and break a person's thoughts about something. It influences the reader and has a strong impact. Such books are rare and precious.
Ajay K Pandey's masterpiece Everything I Never Told You is a tale of a Hindu father, Roshan, who lost his wife Manisha to cancer decides to settle again with his long-lost love Soha, a Muslim girl. But to move forward with the decision Roshan needs the approval of his son Anuj who is against the Muslim religion. Soha is a doctor and Roshan’s childhood best friend. They both lost each other due to their religious differences and their love lost against the family. Soha returns in Roshan’s life. After losing his mother, Anuj maintains a distance from his father because he can't see him with Soha. History repeats as Anuj, with the same set of mind, stand against Roshan’s love. But this time, Roshan decides to stand firm and fight. Anuj confronts his after and puts Roshan in a dilemma as he has to choose between his son and his love. Roshan finally makes the hard choice while letting the other person go. But before that, he changes the perspective of Anuj towards religion by giving him some task through the letters under the name of his mother.
The book is more than just a romantic tale, it's a book about family, religion, love, sacrifice, and many other things. The book implements the thought that religion is inferior to human emotions. A person could live without religion but could not survive without love. The little task that Roshan gave to Anuj and changed his beliefs is worth reading. The past and present narration through two-person point-of-view, Roshan, and Anuj are tricky as well as the amazing work of the author. Kudos to the author to bring up such an important topic through a book and divulge it to its readers.
The only point I could not figure out is the title of the book and its relation to the story.
The book is based on a real story twisted in fiction by the author. It's worth reading this book since it changed my perspective and pin with a lesson that, would cherish through the course of my life. Searching for something different to read, then this could be your pick.
